Japan’s Defense Ministry has confirmed that China’s two operational aircraft carriers, the Liaoning and the Shandong, conducted simultaneous drills in the Pacific Ocean for the first time. The Shandong, with four escorting warships, operated inside Japan’s EEZ north of Okinotorishima, conducting fighter jet and helicopter exercises. Meanwhile, the Liaoning was spotted off Minamitorishima after crossing the “second island chain,” highlighting China’s expanding long-range naval capabilities
