Hot PPI, Timely Shorts: Our Long/Short Strategy Captures the Inflation Trade

📌 Update: We shorted the market last night as wholesale inflation re-accelerated. The move was well-timed: August U.S. PPI rose 0.4% m/m and 5.4% y/y, up from 4.7–4.8% in July and slightly above consensus, driven by a 4.2% jump in energy prices and a 24.1% surge in diesel amid ongoing geopolitical supply shocks. Our new long/short strategy is now generating profits for the fund. We will watch for shifts in the Fed’s dot-plot and guidance at the Sept 16 meeting; a more hawkish stance would further favor our short book.

📌 For high‑net‑worth capital, we prioritize engineered performance over marketing:

🔴 $250K+ | 5 years – Targeted: 0.5% monthly income plus 15% annually.

🟡 $100K+ | 2 years – Targeted: 0.5% monthly income plus 11% annually.

🟠 Below $100K | 4 years – Fixed 9% annual return, designed to outperform typical market benchmarks

🟣 $1M+ | 2 yrs → 0.5% monthly + 21% annual

Indonesia’s Market Comeback Draws Cautious Foreign Buyers

‼️ 🇮🇩 Foreign funds have bought Indonesian bonds for a fourth straight month, the rupiah has rebounded more than 3.5% from June’s record low, and equities are on track for their first quarterly inflow of 2026 as managers including Invesco and PPM America trim underweights. Confidence has been bolstered by President Prabowo Subianto’s pledge to rein in the budget deficit, regulatory steps to address MSCI’s transparency concerns, and newly appointed Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti’s commitment to policy continuity. Even so, deeper doubts over policy execution—and unease about Prabowo’s interventionist agenda—mean most investors remain cautious rather than rushing back in.
