Tesla (TSLA) will host an invite-only, livestreamed Cybercab launch event on September 3 in Austin, Texas, offering public rides in a more expansive demonstration than its October 2024 “We, Robot” showcase. The Cybercab is Tesla’s first dedicated autonomous ride-hailing vehicle, a compact two-seater built without a steering wheel or pedals and powered by a front-mounted AC three-phase permanent-magnet motor delivering about 163 kW (219 hp) through a single-speed reduction gear. It reportedly uses a 47.6–48.0 kWh lithium-ion battery pack (nominal 326 V, 146 Ah) and is expected to support inductive wireless charging, enabling the autonomous fleet to reposition and recharge without human intervention.
